Charts

Every result comes with a chart. Customize the type, measures, time buckets and formatting, and export it.

Every result, whether it's from the agent or the SQL editor, has a Chart tab next to its table. Datachef picks a chart from the shape of the result:

  • A time column gives a timeline.
  • A category and a measure give a bar chart.
  • A single number gives a single-value tile.

Choose Customize to open the chart builder. It aggregates in your browser, so switching from monthly to quarterly, or from sum to average, is instant and doesn't re-run the query.

Options

TypesBar, horizontal bar, line, area, timeline, pie/donut, scatter, single value
DataA dimension, one or more measures (sum, average, min, max, median, count, count distinct), and an optional break-down that splits a measure into one series per category
TimeAutomatic, or fixed buckets: hour, day, ISO week, month, quarter, year
ShapeSide by side, stacked or 100% stacked. Sort by name, by value or in the query's own order. Show the top N and fold the rest into "Other".
ReadingLegend, gridlines, value labels, a target line, axis titles, and number formats including currency, percent, compact and bytes

A chart shows at most eight series. Beyond that, the smallest are folded into "Other". Each chart also has a table of its numbers underneath.

Export

  • PNG and SVG include the title and legend.
  • CSV gives you the numbers the chart is drawn from.

Saving and sharing

The chart is saved on its tab, so it's still there after a reload. When you publish the tab, readers see the chart you built.
